Natalie Chase, Esq. is a seasoned Colorado attorney licensed to practice before all county and district courts in the state, as well as the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court. Her legal practice encompasses a wide range of focus areas, including domestic relations, dependency and neglect cases, criminal defense, and litigation. In addition to her work at Hampton & Pigott, Ms. Chase serves as the presiding judge for the City of Deer Trail and acts as a substitute referee for the City of Fort Collins.
Before joining the firm in 2021, Ms. Chase served as a district court judge in Colorado’s 18th Judicial District from 2014 to 2021. During her judicial tenure, she presided over dockets involving family law, juvenile matters, adoptions, dependency and neglect, and criminal cases. Her thoughtful and well-reasoned judgments earned her an approximately 95% affirmation rate from the Colorado Court of Appeals—an indicator of both her legal knowledge and judicial acumen. She also launched the Safe Babies Court program in her district and played an active role in educating fellow legal professionals on evidence rules and family law.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Chase ran her own law firm and served as the Assistant City Attorney for the City of Aurora. She has tried hundreds of cases from both sides of the bench and has been recognized for her legal leadership and dedication to public service. She helped establish the Veteran’s Court in the 18th Judicial District and led a successful legislative effort to secure more than $2 million in funding to assist domestic violence survivors with legal representation.
Ms. Chase's contributions to the legal community have earned her numerous accolades, including being named one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers and Top 40 Under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers Association. She also received the Charles Dillon Award for Outstanding Public Service and the Tommy D. Drinkwine Outstanding Young Lawyer Award from the Arapahoe County Bar Association, where she once served as president.
She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver College of Law in 2003, following her undergraduate studies at the University of Denver, where she triple majored in Political Science, Sociology (with a criminology emphasis), and Communications—completing all three degrees in just three years. During her time there, she was actively involved in student leadership as Vice President of Gamma Phi Beta, wrote for the school paper, and was a member of the Panhellenic Committee.
At the time of her appointment to the district court, Ms. Chase made history as the youngest woman ever appointed to that bench in Colorado.
When she’s not advocating for her clients or mentoring fellow attorneys, Ms. Chase enjoys spending time with her family, reading, baking, and exploring new destinations through travel.
